The various services catering the office printing needs would normally stay close with the idea of saving on the printing expenses. Servicing your cartridge is by and large balancing at the compromise of quality versus price. There are great benefits from using the refilled ink or remanufactured toner cartridges, as no doubt there are conditional benefits from using the originally manufactured cartridges.

If your business modes imply the uninterrupted massive printing needs, than taking advantage of the refiller services will be vital for your business. On the other hand, if you are more biased towards the rare but high quality printouts – using the originally made cartridges might probably be more of a benefit. Depending on whether you wish to delegate the entire refilling process to the special service or otherwise take over part of the manual work, it is possible to reduce your initial printing expenses by thirty to sixty percent. This should equally relate to refilling your existing cartridge or using the remanufactured one. It is a general practice that you may consider refilling your cartridge three to four times before it may be considered off duty and recycled as you would recycle the plastic containing waste. Before this happens, finding a reputable refilling service may appear as a sensible solution to help your small business survive. The cartridge servicing may generally be fulfilled using three major techniques – using the various do it yourself type refiller kits, using online refiller services or using your local offline toner or ink refilling stores. Either servicing methods should be exercised thoroughly and with much sense behind each of these strategies.

When you are able to delegate the cartridge servicing to honest and trustworthy service, not only will you be able to save on the printing expenses but spare yourself of the risks associated with the counterfeit produce.

Today practically everybody owns a printer at home, so lots of people at least once faced the problem when ink cartridges are out. Earlier you had to make the round of a number of shops to find what you want but today you can use the Internet to look for toner cartridges and even to buy them with delivery to your place. You can save a lot of precious time.

You must be wondering why Dell printers look like new Lexmark printers. Lexmark International is the manufacturer of laser printers for Dell. Even the ink cartridges of both laser printers look the same but they are not interchangeable and will not work if used in the other brand.

Lexmark International, Inc.

Lexmark International, Inc. is one of the leaders in developing, manufacturing and supply of printing solutions, e.g., Lexmark inkjet printers and laser printers. Lexmark, which was founded in 1991, is also widely known for its multifunction products and associated supplies and services. While it provides color laser printers and other IT products for home and office printing needs of consumers in more than 150 countries, it also does business to business with other big names in IT-based technologies. Lexmark reported revenue of more than $4.1 billion in 2001. More information about Lexmark International, Inc. could be found in its website at Lexmark.com

Dell Computer Corporation

Dell Computer Corporation is one of the primary names in information technology as far as providing for the IT and internet requirements of various customers around the world are concerned. Following direct business model, Dell is best known for its customized products and services that answer specific customer requirements. It has an extensive selection of software and peripherals which it designed and manufactured. It reported a quarterly revenue of $32.1 billion. Dell is a trademark of Dell Computer Corporation and it does not claim any proprietary interest in the names and trademarks of other entities. More information about Dell Computer Corporation can be found at Dell.com

Case in Point: Dell Color Laser Printer 5100cn

Dell Color laser 5100cn, is moderately priced compared to Lexmark C762n. At less than $1000, this laser printer from Dell comes with Ethernet capability and prints both sides of the paper. It has sufficient speed that is capable of handling an office workgroup setting.

Lexmarks’ C762n comes with usage tracking, it is capable of printing banners and other excellent features that Dell printers of the same category do not have. While Lexmark C762n comes with an impressive array of upgrades, Dell Color Laser 5100cn also has some upgradeable features without putting a hole in your pockets. One of Dell Color Laser 5100cn’s best features is its built-in duplexer that can churn out double sided print-outs. This is an expensive feature to the more expensive Lexmark C762n.

One of the best advantages of having Dell printers is that it offers to recycle your old printer for free, regardless of brand. It also has an online support that provides access to knowledge base and driver downloads. All in all, Dell Color Laser 5100cn gives you satisfactory performance in terms of print-outs in both black and white and color office printing needs. What make it better is that Dell printers come in at a lesser price compared to Lexmark printers.

With most popular laser printers, when the cartridge becomes empty you can buy a bottle of toner to refill it with. There are kits available for both Mono and Colour Laser Printers. These kits include a matched toner and instructions for refilling. Some cartridges need to have a hole made in order to pour the toner into the empty cartridge. It is recommended NOT to drill the hole as the small bits of plastic may fall into the toner reservoir. A special soldering iron may be purchased. The hot ring at the end of this tool is around the size of a 5c piece. Large enough to pour toner using a nozzle.

Inkjet Cartridges can be refilled by injecting ink into the empty cartridge. It is advisable to not wait till the cartridge is completely empty but to refill the cartridge while there is still some ink in the cartridge. Some Cartridges have chips which tell the amount of ink remaining in the cartridge.

When refilling these cartridges the instructions which should come with the refill kit will detail how to bypass the chip or you may find a resetter on the Internet which will reset the chip back to full again. This is the cheapest method of running your printer and when done properly it works very well. Universal ink refill kits are available but please be careful when refilling later Canon models which need a much thinner ink so the 2 picolitre ink delivery system does not get blocked.

The inkjet printers are becoming quite popular these days. They are ideal for people who are tight on a budget. Along with the rising importance of printers, the demand for cartridges has also increased. Especially if you are a regular user of the printer you cannot go without them. Though they are usually expensive, there are many online retailers that offer discounts. So refilling your empty ones will be the best option.

How can you refill your cartridge?

Every cartridge is different from the others. Some are embedded with a reservoir which is filled with ink and some are sponge topped. You have to be very careful while doing it as instructed. The inkjet printer has two types of refill kits. One with the black ink and the other with the colored ink, containing magenta (purple), yellow and cyan (blue) color. It can be either done by yourself or you can take the help of professionals. But when you are doing it yourself then these are some easy steps to be followed. This method is known as the gravity method.

This process is very messy. Do not forget to cover your clothes with towels.
Fill up the syringe with the color you want to fill your cartridge with.
Put the needle inside the hole on the top of it and fill in the ink.
You must be very careful while carrying out this process. If any amount of air bubbles enter it, then that will affect your printing.
Another important step is washing away any left over ink in it.
After refilling clear the mess created by the process.

Why is refilling your best option?

First and foremost it is more cost effective. Then it is also environment friendly. You do not require buying a new one after you are finished with one. Thus in turn you are not dumping the unused plastic cartridges and polluting your environment. Usually you can refill your cartridge for 5 times. This saves you a lot of money.

Therefore in spite of the fact that it is a messy process it is mostly applied because of its cost effectiveness. This method is also time consuming. You have to be very slow and steady while refilling. A little bit of hurry on your part will not only create a lot of mess but will also damage your printer. But when money is your concern then this is your safest bet.

Cartridge Refilling – At Cartridge World we provide you an opportunity to be the master of your own destiny by running your own business while being supported by established brand marketing and management systems.

How many people know that the cost of Lexmark’s ink cartridges can put a dent in your pocket if you’re the owner of one or more Lexmark printer inkjet machines.

Here are you Step-by-Step “How-to-Remanufacture Your Lexmark 10N0026″ Instructions:

Let’s get straight to the point, no beating around the bush during this lecture.

First, you will need the necessary Tools & Supplies Required:

Tools & Supplies Required:

oElectrical Circuit Tester (tool)

oFlush Cleaning Machine (tool)

oBin for soaking (tool)

oNozzle-Sealing machine

oCentrifuge (tool)

oPrinter Tester or OEM Printer (tool)

oUltrasonic Welder or Hot Glue Gun (tool)

oTop Removal Tool or Machine (tool)

oVacuum-Filling Machine (tool)

oTowels (supply)

oPurified Water (supply)

oLabels and Packaging Material (supply)

Here you will also be provided with the OEM (original equipment manufacturer) information:

Lexmark 10N0026:

oPart Number: 10N0026

oOEM Milliliter Load: 19 ml

oYield @ 5% coverage: 410 pages / min:14

oResolution: 2400x1200dpi (dots per inch)

Below are the 11 steps to know how to remanufacture your Lexmark inkjet 10N0026 ink cartridges.

Step #1 – Perform Visual Inspection and Electrical Test:

oImmediately, when the cartridges are unpacked and compiled for processing, they should be promptly inspected.

Analyzing the cartridge from all angles will disclose any obvious problems that would make it nearly impossible to process, such as flex circuit or print head damage.

Visual inspections can be quickly performed in the same time frame as the circuit test, which will eliminate cartridges with electrical failures.

Step #2 – Remove Top and Foam:

oIn this step, the cartridge tops are removed in the fastest way possible while leaving a consistently even and smooth surface that will enable a brand new top to be welded onto the cartridges at a later time.

The original equipment manufacturer’s top is not reusable. Due to the fact that the top is engraved with the Lexmark logo, ink cartridges recyclers such as you would rather not have it there to reuse anyway.

Step #3 – Soak with Solution:

oEach 10N0026 cartridge is filled with Lexmark’s notorious pigmented ink. The ink formula is similar to the 12A1970 cartridges, yet does not seem to render the cartridge useless as quickly by drying to the point of no return.

Although, the ink happens to thicken similar to a shoe polish consistency soon enough to be a formidable obstacle to processing by customary means.

Now, with the tops removed, the cartridges are filled with approximately 20 ml each of soaking solution that is formulated to return the thickened ink to a minimal liquid state.

There should be at least a minimum of three hours of soaking time at room temperature, this is highly recommended.

It would also be a good idea to place some towels under the cartridges during this step which will help capillary actions from possibly taking place.

Step #4 – Clean and Rinse:

oAs for any excess solution, I suggest you dispose of it (observing all applicable local waste disposal regulations), allowing the soaked cartridges to be placed in the inverted position onto the specially designed flushing apparatus.

The target of the flushing will be only the pre-firing chamber, which is the barrel shaped reservoir adjacent to the print head.

During this process, warmed purified water is directed through the filter screen at a safe pressure, forcing the re-liquefied ink through the nozzles.

The water stream provides a physical force to move a sufficient volume of water through the entire ink delivery system, accomplishing a thorough exchange of fluids converting ink to water and rinsing away any soaking solution in the process.

Step #5 – Replace Foam:

oFelted or permanently compressed, foam is inserted into the cleaned cartridge body. Felted foams are sometimes cut very closely to the actual size of the ink chamber, which eases insertion.

Lexmark will use non-felted foams for this cartridge and depending on the compression necessary to insert the foam to produce the desired finished compression. Non-felted foams are less expensive to produce, although they are much more difficult to consistently insert.

Compression ratios, choice of foam material and pore size all affect the flow of ink and ultimately the cartridges performance.

The felted foam chosen for this cartridge is a polyether material, which when filled with pigmented ink, is usually contains more stability then polyester materials.

Step #6 – Vacuum Fill and Stabilize Cartridge:

oThe nozzles are then sealed with a blue tape or clip before vacuum filling, and the cartridges are submitted into a vacuum type environment.

Both the foams, print head are adjacent cavities that are evacuated to approximately 650 mmHg and the ink is the slowly released as near to the filter screen as close as possible.

When this volumetric fill has been completed, the chamber containing the cartridges is slowly returned to atmospheric pressure.

Each cartridges remains sealed at the nozzles for about one working day prior to the print test.

This time allows for additional stabilization to take place, providing you with more reliable print results.

Step #7 – Print Test:

oTo perform a print test, it may include flooding the nozzles for cleansing purposes (100% prints) and the printing of various fonts and sizes of text.

Assorted grayscale blocks will help reveal the quality of the cartridge. Before the cartridge cap is welded, the print test must be completed.

If by chance the cap is required during the print test, you can secure the cap temporarily with a strong rubber band.

Step #8 – Weld Replacement Top:

oFor cartridges that pass the print test phase must receive a replacement top.

As a reminder, ultrasonic welding is by far the fastest and cleanest method of attaching the cartridge tops, although a suitable adhesive may also be implemented.

A typical ultrasonic weld will only take a fraction of a second. This is not at all, time consuming.

Step #9 – Seal Nozzles:

oJust like the OEM (original equipment manufacturer) cartridge, the nozzles on the remanufactured inkjet cartridge should be sealed with blue tape.

This indeed can be one of the more difficult phases throughout the process. A thoroughly clean and dry nozzle plate makes the best sealing environment.

A mechanical pressing device that allows two presses brings consistency to the process, and the application of just enough heat to soften the applied tape will allow it to conform more perfectly during the second press.

When applying the blue tape, there may be a remove label included.

Step #10 – Clean – Label – Package – Date Code:

oThe appearance of the cartridges should be given your undivided attention. This is important if you plan on reselling this product.

Be careful and cautious because the final cleaning of the circuit and cartridge body and application of the replacement label along with date code are all part of the finishing process.

Carefully research the matching of inks and foams when choosing replacement foams. This is expected in order to ensure the greatest of quality measures.

This should result in an ink cartridge being stable for a year or more from the date of the manufacturer.

Congratulations, you have successfully completed the process on how to remanufacture your own Lexmark 10N0026 inkjet cartridge.

Good luck and complete each cartridge as if it were your last. This information is provided to you at no expense to both educate and improve your knowledge in the technical area within the remanufacturing industry.

Getting the most technologically advanced printer possible solves your problems related to quality printing yet opens up a Pandora’s box with the steady current expenses due to continued disposal of ink or toner cartridges. Most of the printer users find their solution in using the substitutes to the originally manufactured cartridges, alternative generic ink refillers or remanufactured toner cartridges. Which is in fact, if approached with thoroughness, is tremendously cost effective without giving in the quality factor. Using such alternative disposables may, however, quickly result into the unexpected annoying surprises such as print head jamming or nozzle clogging.

Despite the fact that the technology behind the generic cartridges has been progressing for the past decade, there still are some underwater perils that those concerned in cutting down of the office expenses should know. Knowing this will provide for the sustained printer quality while you may cut down your office printing expenses by thirty to sixty percent and avoid the common threats of having your cartridge jammed. Pay attention to the generic cartridge dealer you are buying from. Do they have any gratifying acknowledgments to accompany their offers? Do you know anyone of the offices that are similar to yours who have been using their generic type cartridges? Has anyone reported their cartridges clogging? Would you be able to substitute or get a full refund if you run into the jammed toner and will not want to further deal with this exact vendor?

Remember that the best offers on the market are not the cheapest ones. Getting the cheapest cartridge possible may eventually result into the larger expenses on the broader scale if you run into the jammed cartridge type situation in the midst of your business processes. Consider becoming an ‘expert’ in print head cleaning. Remember that a piece of cotton (or blotting paper) and water may actually save you a lot of leg work and money.

Being able to recycle the disposables used with the laser and inkjet printers means contributing tremendously to the waste reduction programs that are so urgent nowadays. This recycle program relates mostly to the plastic containing elements such as ink and toner cartridges.

There are two major trends in getting the printer users motivated to recycle their used cartridges. The first trend relates to environmental protection calls by which people are encouraged to recycle cartridges while they fully realize the consequences that the increasing waste amount causes to their health and generally to the living standards of their families and the greater society. It is more about the irrational civil liability concept rather than the appeal to the rational receptors. The second trend has to do with businesses encouraging the recycling activities of the printer users presenting it as a cost effective maneuver, which in all truth is very reasonable indeed. We have earlier explained the reasons for having ones cartridge recycled, but just to reiterate due to the importance of the matter – office expenses maybe reduced by thirty to sixty percent if compatible cartridges are being used under condition of multiple uninterrupted print jobs. Speaking about the cost effectiveness, not only the shipping expenses maybe covered if you decide to turn in your used cartridge, but in most situations it is going to be more effective to buy back your own used cartridge than be getting a new remanufactured or refilled one.

The use of the remanufactured and/or refilled cartridges imply that some recycling offices are going to offer the money for getting back the cartridges that they have once sold to you as new ones. The options are many and no matter which one you are going to select, the contribution to the environment saving matters is evident. It would be shame to ignore this importunity seeing on the negligible amount of efforts that it takes to accomplish.

Dealt with on the daily basis, we seldom engross ourselves in thinking about how sophisticated and advanced is the technological factor that lets us get that fine photo quality print out of the printer. We are no more surprised getting the 4800 by 1200 dpi resolution from something that is as affordable as seemed beyond quality and price limits yet couple decades ago.

How do we maintain these complex technological devices? Where should we point our particular attention to? With the so called print head integration principle, the maintenance of the cartridge alignment and the printer on the whole becomes very simple. Rare no print head cleaning is necessary, the print quality can be maintained without the need to hire an expert. The delicately adjusted mechanisms allowing for the proper alignment of the print heads can provide for the extreme quality print outs using the six color printing techniques with the modern inkjet printers of the popular makes such as Epson or Lexmark. A number of technological innovations have been brought to make an intelligent cartridge alignment an easy task for the end user. Certain laser sensors are now being used widely to orientate the print-heads of the cartridge with reference to the paper tray so that any distortions may be avoided providing for a perfectly aligned print out. The alignment sensors would also be able to distinguish between the plain, matte and other variations of the photo paper. The proper alignment is now possible during the cartridge replacement procedure as well. The preset settings are being used for the new cartridge through the automatic alignment process.

Due to the high complexity of the mechanical and electronic layouts of the printer, it is quite essential however that the original equipment models of cartridges are being used as opposed to the remanufactured ones however thoroughly they are being pre-tested.

Most people just bother about the price factor when they are hunting for a new cartridge for their printer. Like it or not, but the moment you purchase an inkjet printer, you have to bear the fact that you’ll have to go in for new cartridges ever so often. The frequency depends totally upon the volume of print and the print density. If the pages you are printing consume lots of ink, you might find yourself with an exhausted cartridge in just a few days. Do not be fooled by the ads that state ’2000 pages per cartridge’. Look out for the fine print and you will see that this statement holds true when one is printing documents under special circumstances.

In most cases the number of pages the cartridge is rated for depends upon the percentage of the printed page that is covered by the ink. Most cartridges provide an estimated printed page count when the ink does not cover more than 10% of the printed page. Under such circumstances, the end user can expect the cartridge to deliver the number of pages it claims. However, it is tough to calculate print out’s this way. One page, full of graphics’ is equivalent to 10 pages of normal text matter… or even more.

If you are using bold text in your copy, the number of pages per cartridge will further reduce. It is keeping these things in mind that the cost per page of printed paper is calculated. Most people do not bother to study all these details. They just look at the cost of the cartridge instead of looking at the amount of ink their printed pages will consume. If your work involves printing out a letter or two per day, and you do not require high quality output, you can easily opt in for the refurbished cartridges.

They are quite cheap and provide excellent print quality as long as you are printing text only. However, if your job involves lots of high quality images, it is recommended that you opt in for compatible cartridges. Not only do they provide you with excellent text printouts, they also provide you with superior quality images too. The quality of their printout is on a par with the printouts provided by the OEM (original equipment manufacturer) cartridges. If you have visited any online store that deals in printer supplies and have noticed discount ink cartridges, you can be rest assured that these cartridges are either refurbished ones or compatible ones.

These manufacturers can offer you cartridges at a lower price because of the low ink price. They purchase ink in bulk from the manufacturers and use them to refill the cartridges. In fact, if your organization uses lots of ink cartridges per month, you can try refilling them yourself. Special kits are available in the sites that sell printer supplies that assist you to fill up the exhausted cartridges. You can also check out for ink discount on such sites.

That printer is really a bargain at under $ 100.00. Did you ever wonder how a company can manufacture that printer, sell it for under $ 100.00 and make any money on it? The truth is they are not, the company loses on average $ 10-$20 on every printer they sell. How than, you ask can they afford to lose money? They make it up on the cartridge refills they sell you for $ 40.00 + per buy. In fact many of the manufacturers sell you a “reduced cartridge” to get you in for that replacement sooner than you think. Some things to think about when buying that printer:

1) What is the cost of the replacement cartridge for that printer? Over time you will spend more on the replacement cartridge than you will the printer itself.

2) What is the page yield of that cartridge? How many pages under normal conditions will this cartridge print? This is a question you should be asking to avoid less trips to the store for a replacement.

3) Where can I get a deal on a Cartridge? Many companies, such as Cartridge World refill your existing cartridge for one-half the price of a new one and offer a product guaranty as well.

4) Re-filled cartridges save the environment. Did you know 20,000 pounds of cartridges are thrown into a landfill every day? It takes 450 years for those cartridges to decompose in the landfill. So think of your environment.

All in all, check pricing on the printer and cartridge as well. Look for alternatives like “refilling”. It saves you money and helps the environment as well.
